My Daughter Macy Elizabeth Graduated Nursing School | Watch Her Best Commencement Speech Student Delivery

In May, my daughter Macy graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree from the University of North Georgia!  Surpassing herself and fulfilled the ultimate life role as she took the oath/pledge of Nursing as President of her class was an ultimate checkmark in the book of life. As President of her college class, Macy’s speech exceeded any first speech I’ve ever heard.

When she fulfilled the ultimate life role as she took the oath/pledge of Nursing as President of her class, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BSN (Bachelors of Science in Nursing) degree from University of North Georgia college, I was ecstatic! To me, her commencement speech exceeded any first speech I’ve ever heard, but yes, I am biased.

Wanting to cry, I knew I couldn’t because the video camera would begin to shake. My heart was literally exploding with joy for the young lady that my daughter had become. Her words were so well spoken. Her demeanor full of grace and wit for the medical profession that holds a large piece of her heart and many of her waking hours. I loved that she made her colleagues and teachers laugh out loud. Bursting with pride, although I along many of others in the audience had no idea what a Hesi or EIQ was, I hung on every word she spoke.

As President of Her Class, She Delivered An Awesome Commencement Speech

Even if the speaker is my daughter, this is still the best graduation speech outside of a professional commencement speaker, such as the late Steve Jobs. On the day of Macy’s college commencement and nursing pinning ceremony, I was too nervous for her. As a public speaker, I know how hard it is to stand in front of an audience, but much less an audience of faces you know and recognize. To add an allergy attack on top of it and lose her voice, I was even more worried, but I did not express my worries.

As her mom, she earned her ROCKSTAR status at the ripe age of 17 when she graduated high school a year early, even though she missed almost a complete half year of high school with our move from Georgia to Las Vegas. Nonetheless, graduating at the top of her high school class to pursue a healthcare degree made my heart sing.

I was always aspiring to help people, but Macy’s initiative. The medical and first responder profession is one of the most ultimate sacrifices. They put their selves in the way of diseases daily. Considering Macy grew up with a mother who passed out at the sight of blood, you can imagine my ultimate joy and disconnection at the same time. Heavens! I can’t even take a whiff of vomit without adding more to the mix while Macy spent an internship doing just that.

Maybe My Parenting Skills Paid Off?

Most importantly, she showed me that somewhere along the way, maybe just an ounce or two of my days of parenting the only child to that I have given life to paid off in the form of her love and compassion for others. Her successes as an adult are my greatest joy, which is hard to imagine considering how cute she was as a kid.

After the commencement and nurse pinning ceremony, we were off to celebrate at the graduation party and plan for her wedding before moving out of Casa Wynwood 1.0.
